Using The Power Of Your Fear

That fear you feel before doing something new or different can seem overwhelming at times, in fact it stops some people dead in their tracks. However it affects you, experiencing emotional distress from fear is painful and actually physically damaging. Did you know that the fear mechanism is only designed to be for a very brief period, but when we allow ourselves to remain in a fear mode for and extended time our body is actually getting damaged? So if you want to move your life forward and keep your health managing these fears is advisable. Your personal growth is an ongoing process and part of self-discovery is finding what about your life you don’t want and then to making the small changes to support what you do want.

In acting they teach actors and actresses to channel their fear. It’s not that that many don’t have it, but it’s how they have learned to handle it. Many who perform live or speak in from of large groups are nervous every time before they do. But rather than letting this stop them they are able to channel the energy in the fear towards what they are doing. This actually transfers that heightened energy you notice with fear thoughts into their performance or presentation. Have you ever noticed that some performers seem to have a different ‘personality’ off stage than they do when they are performing? Many are quiet and reserved when talked to away from a performance, but when on stage they come alive with energy and boldness. I wonder where that comes from - re-directed fear perhaps. (more…)

Oh, Woe Is Me…

I’ll bet you have at least one friend, acquaintance, colleague or spouse that is chronically miserable, gloomy and cheerless. Regardless of whom it is this person has something to complain about every single day.

Correct?

Or perhaps, the “friend” above is you…if so, it’s okay to admit to it!

Maybe you are going through some tough times. Tough times, challenges and obstacles are all part of life and growing as a human being. In fact, they are a law of the universe in which we exist!

However, my experience indicates that it is typically those who have it “all” that are far more miserable than those that have little in the way of finances, possessions or other trappings of the “silver spoon” life. These types of people are so wrapped up and absorbed in protecting against the loss of their material possessions they completely ignore their own personal development and growth - and hence, regress physically, mentally and spiritually.

Let’s look at a week-long snapshot to illustrate my point. By the way, these are all real-world examples. Yes, unfortunately I was there to witness them.

For example, on Monday the “friend / work colleague” may have been ranting and raving and sounding like a broken record, over the latest “Somebody Did Me Wrong” that happened over the weekend. And on the flip side of the recording is their other hit song, “Oh, Woe Is Me…”

On Tuesday, it was the weather - too hot, too cold, too sunny, too windy… arrgh!

Wednesday, the conversation began with a dissertation about every little ache, pain, and paper cut. Or that they are too tired.

On Thursday, they were angry at the world spewing venom and profanities at every person they came in contact with - the stereotypical “finger flippin’, horn honkin’, road rager” comes to mind.

And, on Friday, they now believe that the world and everyone in it, is out to get them - look out for the tears! They constantly play the role of “victim” and blame everyone else but them self for their misery, negative thoughts and emotional outbursts - of course, all self inflicted.

Thank god for the weekend!

How can these types of people ever have any positive energy left to be motivated to achieve what they want in life? Let alone productively function from day to day?

Well, the truth is that they can’t due to their lack of self control and self mastery. And, there is nothing that uses up vital energy as quickly as a lack of self control and self mastery. Having used up their vital energies, the emotional, irritable person can not concentrate, nor focus on a single thought.

And it builds from there. The miserable, irritable person is not magnetic. He / she is not admired or loved or fun to be around. And he does not develop those finer qualities that a person of success possesses. He creates a chasm between himself and others. And, therefore is not able to enlist others in helping him to reach his goals and dreams. (more…)

The #1 Most Common Goof In Personal Development Is Trying To Get Rid Of Your Ego - Part 1

One consistent and popular theme concerning the Ego is it is looked upon as bad and something we have to constantly work to get rid of. I myself fell into constantly berating the ego and fighting against it. Doing this unknowingly created an on going and increasing problem for myself. The more I fought against the ego, the more confused I became, and less confident I felt. If you have experienced much of the same, let me explain what happen that changed all that for me.

Somewhere deep inside I was feeling that something was missing in what I could do to help myself gain more clarity, confidence and ultimately live my birth right of health, wealth and happiness. I called out for help. When I asked I received huge assistance in the form of being able to look at life and what was happening in my life more unconditionally. I felt fortune was smiling on me because I came across an understanding of the Ego that I have never seen elsewhere. It was through a course that provided insights and a framework for life, in a very grounded systemic way that allowed me to make giant strides in my life and move me forward at a pace that I had never experienced before because I understood cause and effect, attraction and countless other principles on a much deeper and simpler level.

By using this material (mentioned at the end of this article), I was able to integrate the powerful knowledge this course provided and actually use my Ego, unconditionally and responsibly to assist me and empower me to easily meet my goals.

Let me share briefly upon what this material taught and awakened within me as a level of truth I knew was missing yet didn’t know where to find it.

We Are Actually Supposed To Have An Ego

We are supposed to have an ego. I just didn’t know how to allow my Ego to serve me instead of distract me. Our Ego is a part of us just as our heart and soul are a part of us. Yet this is the only part of us that is described as “something we need to get rid of.” It is like someone telling us that we need to get rid of our left arm, or our lungs. Those are the physical parts of us that we use to function as a body in this dimension, just as our Ego as a part of our being, allows us to function in this dimension. We require our Ego to experience life through our own personality, viewpoint and our own way of being. The Ego expresses our preference for lemonade over orange juice, or our preference for vacations in Hawaii over vacations in London. Our Ego is what makes life interesting for us, our Ego is what allows us to express our unique gift throughout the world. It is the one thing that makes us unique unto ourselves.

Is there any wonder why we have all struggled for years and years attempting to ‘get rid’ of our Ego? Why would we want to eliminate the very thing that gives us our own unique flavor?

Stay tuned for part 2 of the article where we discuss what getting rid of the Ego is really confused with and why understanding the ego is important to our personal development.

Eliminate Fear with these 4 Questions.

4 Powerful Personal Development Questions That Eliminate Fear

There is nothing to fear but fear itself

Is fear holding you back from achieving your dreams? Do you hesitate when you have the chance to move forward in life because you are paralysed by your own imagination - thinking of all the terrible things that could happen?

Have you ever been in a situation where you were prepared for the worst to happen? Your mind ran wild with terrible imaginings and you were literally paralysed by fear! Then the event actually occurred! Yet when you eventually passed through the actual experience you realised that the fear you had was much worse than the actual event!

Most of us have had such experiences.

On the other hand have you ever feared the worst and it didn’t happen?

In both the above situations you probably worked yourself into a frenzy in anticipation of this terrible thing that was about to happen only to find out later that your fears were unfounded. Your fears were worse than the eventual experience.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933.

So what is fear and how do we defeat it?

Well fear occurs when you allow your negative programming to influence your thinking. It rears its ugly head when you find yourself out of your comfort zone! It is the unknown outcome that produces fear in any situation and the collection of many thoughts that direct your consciousness to the worst possible scenario.

Fear is false!

If you look closely at your fears you will find that the great majority of them never come to pass and those that do are not as bad as you expected them to be.

The key to conquering fear lies in your thinking and questioning. In future when you are confronted with a fear you should stop for a moment and take a very deep breath. Breathing deeply relaxes the body and removes the tension that the fear is creating in your body. Then look closely at the way you have just been thinking. You will find that your mind was filled with the worst possible images connected to your fear.

Reverse the thoughts! Begin by questioning the fear. Use the following four questions to paralyse the fear!

1. Is this fear really based on anything that is true?

2. If the fear were to become reality would the experience really be as bad as you have been thinking it would be?

3. Is it possible that you may actually gain something from experiencing the feared event?

This last question may sound like a strange thing to ask yourself but there is a two-fold reason for asking it. Firstly, any thought in a different direction breaks the runaway train of negative fearful thought! Secondly, it forces you to look at the fear from a different perspective and neutralizes its power.

4. Is it possible that if I change my thinking now I can actually create what I want instead of being fearful?

When we change how we think we change how we act. Many people actually bring about their fears because they are constantly thinking about them. By focusing on your fears you tend to act in ways that are connected to the fears and thus you unconsciously create the feared event. An example would be a person who fears they will lose their partner. They therefore try to control them in every way in order to ensure the person will never leave them. I am sure you can see that this behaviour will actually push the person away. Yet to them they are ensuring they keep the person! We all act like this everyday with our fears.

Likewise, when we hold in mind the expectation that we will receive what we want to receive our thinking affects our actions and we find ourselves attracting the very things we want.

So to avoid attracting situations and people that will help you manifest your own fears constantly ask yourself the four fear-busting questions above. You will soon find that your fears are only shadows with no real substance and you will begin to move forward in the direction you want.
