Beibee do you mean that a journalist will collect
money apart from his salary to report a news?
Then certain group of people will
control what will be made available as news
to the masses.Where does freedom of speech
come in?
to be more specific:
there some news event certain journalists
consider to be public relations to the entity
or organization being the source of such event…
these journalists will expect that they’re doing
the person, entity, organization a favour which
must be remunerated!
it’s become a norm; haven’t you heard of
“brown envelope”? what about “roger”?
these are few terms used to describe money
got from the beats journalists cover…
if you call for a media briefing and you send
the journalists away without something tangible
you can expect your news event to end in the recycle bin!
these certain journalists are paper-tigers…
and be sure that there are one thousand and one
media briefings, press conferences, press releases, etc
jostling for the limited pages of newspapers…
apart from the newsworthiness of the event…the money
that likely exhanges hands counts so much!
there’s so much intrigues in the media world;
it’s not peculiar to nigeria…well, it’s always
loud and obvious here…you know!

It is wonderful to see such a wonderful innovation, the world largest FPSO in the world. I came across your website blog while looking for a friend from the Total Akpo Project I met in Singapore. His name is Eric Gilles. I have been trying to contact him but of no avail. If there is anybody who knows him or how to get in contact with him , please let me know.I have been worried about him as he promised to contact me but I haven’t heard from him since he flew back to Paris on the 19th of July 08. I just want to know that all is well with him and nothing unfortunate has happened. Thanks a million to all who can be of any help!

Nice to see the Akpo PFSO again. I was there also for only 2 1/2 mnths. I am from Philippines and work with Mr. Howard Ring as my Piping Superintendent. I was assigned to do the commissioning work of Piping system at all modules. Hope to hear about the works over there in Nigeria and photos..
I never heard about the project in the news but I see it once in Rigzone article.

Please kindly let me know if production on the vessel has commenced and if a contractor by the name ‘Oliver Tan Nigeria Limited’ was awarded the contract to recruit worker for the vessel.This is because there is alot of scam about in warri.Thank you,
