Opened my email box today after a long time, most of my messages were questions about my whereabout. From Canada we went back to New York and left after two days to London. We arrived Lagos Nigeria on the 5th of this month,it was a very strange feeling okay where do i start is it the airport? the heat? Some of our luggage did not come back till today and I was left with nothing to wear for some days. The airport staffs were kind and nice, the driver came to pick us up accompanied by a security officer then with an escort car driving right behind us with armed police officers. This whole escort thing didn’t make me feel safe rather it put the fear of God in me that now that i should watch my back and be very security conscious. The hotel was of international standard but it was a transit point, today we moved out to a guest house somewhere in Victoria Island, where we will stay till we get a house which am seriously hoping we get very soon. Joel and Shawn my twins turned 2 years old on the 7th of August,we couldn’t do a proper birthday party for them but since we were at Sofitel hotel in Ikoyi then;I asked the chef to prepare a birthday cake for them.In the evening of that day we just went to the hotel’s swimming pool side for a little get together with two other families. Yuck! I just killed a mosquito now,am wondering if they fumigated this place before checking us in here.I need to go to bed right now, loads of gist on the way stay tuned. The photo above is Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria.

The generation that is most comfortable with digital technology, which gives them unprecedented access to all of the world’s knowledge, knows less than the previous generation that lacked this advantage. In other words, the generations whose thumbs do most of their talking can’t express themselves beyond the level of a text message. Could the vast majority of people under the age of 30 (Gen Y and the youngest Gen Xers) be so clueless?
Regrettably the answer is yes. According to a recent Pew Research Center study, 74 percent of 18 to 29 year-olds did not know that Condolezza Rice was the U.S. Secretary of State. Six times more of these young adults were more likely to identify the latest winner of American Idol than the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Another 60 percent did not know the Civil War took place in the second half of the 19th century.
This is a generation who grew up reading blogs instead of books. They read updates about friends on MySpace instead of reading current events in newspapers. They know more about World of Warcraft than they do about World War II.
The result is that just one-third of high school seniors graduated with the ability to read proficiently. Just one-fourth could write a basic paragraph.
The problem is that many young adults are using technology to communicate rather than to learn. In effect by using shorthand texting, they are reinforcing their own illiteracy every time they send and receive a text message. (more…)
How to be Happy
Happiness is in the knowing!
QUOTE: “If you think you’re going to have a bad day and be sad, or you think you’re in for a happy day; trust these thoughts as your intuition is likely to be right.” (A slight amendment to the next quote below)
QUOTE: “If you think you can do a thing, or you think you can’t do a thing, you’re always right.” (Henry Ford 1863-1947)
What significance do you think those two quotes have on your happiness? They have a huge bearing on your happiness! Your attitude is a very important principle and thus should be treated with reverence.
QUOTE: “People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.” (Abraham Lincoln)
Finding true happiness is a very personal journey.
There isn’t a simple set of guidelines to give you happiness, because every individual finds happiness in different things. What may trigger sadness in one person could trigger happiness in another. So rather than look at specific events we shall need to look at varying emotive subjects and explore their potential.
Amongst other things I shall introduce a few concepts about ‘being happy’ that you have forgotten existed…
I say forgotten deliberately because we all possess a happy spirit, but sometimes we forget how to trigger it into action.
Allow me to introduce out a few concepts that you may find yourself nodding to. If you do nod, then perhaps you knew them already?!
1. Happiness is our right and not just a possibility.
2. Happiness is a basic human disposition.
3. There is a natural tendency to consider that every problem is sent to drill us into the ground; but in actual fact it is sent to strengthen our spirit, we only need to recognise how to convert it.
4. Our greatest gain towards happiness is often during or after our greatest period of pain. (more…)

Did you ever read or hear about what the African slaves went through going from Africa to the slave dealers countries? Did you ever read the book “No longer at ease” by Chinua Achebe? What about the Israelites journey through the wilderness on their journey to the promised land? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then you will have a better understanding of what am about to tell you concerning our vacation. From july 12th to the 31st of july we have seen 6 cities and 4 countries,we moved from Ulsan to Seoul where we spent 3 days and 2 nights you might like to check our last week in South Korea . Our journey then took us to London on a 12 hours flight, the post is here in case you didn’t read it. From London we went to New York on a flight of 8 hours everything about that trip can be found in these posts here. To some people this will be fun until you realize that my husband is like on of those slave dealers. Do you know how much trekking that i have done on this trip? Sometimes i wonder if he is out to punish me because of all the money that i have spent shopping,or is he trying to make vacation look unappealing to me that i wouldn’t want to go on another one in the nearest future, well if the second reason is the answer i have already given up on going anywhere with him. How can a man who can afford all these trips not afford to pay for taxi? Even when i volunteer to pay for the cab he will prefer to walk claiming that he is exercising we actually walk round Manhattan and now we have started again here in Ontario in Toronto. Apart from the stress from the walking about i am catching my fun. What do you think i should do?

We arrived Canada yesterday morning instead of Sunday as earlier planned. We checked out of our hotel around 12noon headed to the Airport for our 2.55 pm flight to Toronto, little did we know that our day will be spent at the Airport. Our flight was cancelled due to cloudy weather and we were put on a standby for the next flight which was for 5.30 pm. The long wait started at about 1.30pm it would have been okay if the flight left by then but it was delayed to 7.30 pm by this time my kids have become very restless after feeding and changing their diapers we waited. The flight came and left without us it was fully booked,we were told to wait again for the 9.00pm flight oh no! that flight have been delayed to 11.00 pm. You guessed right we didn’t make that flight too which was the last to Toronto for the day. The seats at the airport are not comfy enough for one to take a quick nap.
This was my worst experience at any Airport so far,we couldn’t go back to our hotel because we were in New Jersey airport and not JFK in New york.We called a hotel in New Jersey, entered the air train and stopped at the parking lot where the hotel shuttle bus came to pick us up.I was so pissed off with the whole situation i asked my husband what we were doing at that airport instead of JFK he then told me that the flight that was avaliable that day was an early morning flight and didn’t book it because of the kids. The lady at the boarding gate was not polite at all but i wasn’t going to give her that chance to get to me so i just ignore her.We went downstairs to collect back our luggage which we have earlier checked in.We were the last to leave the boarding gate ,got to our hotel room and to my greatest surprise we had a good sleep;we woke up around 5.00 am got prepared, fed the kids went downstairs for breakfast and entered the hotel shuttle to the airport for our 8.55 am flight. We went through the security check again how i hate all those checking, when we got to the boarding gate the lady there asked me if we have Canadian visa another stupid question how did we get there? I just told her yes and moved on to leave the dirty airport behind me.We had a very smooth flight that lasted for about 52 mins so in all we are grateful for we know that everything happens for a purpose.
Have you had any bad experience during a trip?
