A Travel Nightmare:Newark Airport

Newark Airport

We arrived Canada yesterday morning instead of Sunday as earlier planned. We checked out of our hotel around 12noon headed to the Airport for our 2.55 pm flight to Toronto, little did we know that our day will be spent at the Airport. Our flight was cancelled due to cloudy weather and we were put on a standby for the next flight which was for 5.30 pm. The long wait started at about 1.30pm it would have been okay if the flight left by then but it was delayed to 7.30 pm by this time my kids have become very restless after feeding and changing their diapers we waited. The flight came and left without us it was fully booked,we were told to wait again for the 9.00pm flight oh no! that flight have been delayed to 11.00 pm. You guessed right we didn’t make that flight too which was the last to Toronto for the day. The seats at the airport are not comfy enough for one to take a quick nap.
This was my worst experience at any Airport so far,we couldn’t go back to our hotel because we were in New Jersey airport and not JFK in New york.We called a hotel in New Jersey, entered the air train and stopped at the parking lot where the hotel shuttle bus came to pick us up.I was so pissed off with the whole situation i asked my husband what we were doing at that airport instead of JFK he then told me that the flight that was avaliable that day was an early morning flight and didn’t book it because of the kids. The lady at the boarding gate was not polite at all but i wasn’t going to give her that chance to get to me so i just ignore her.We went downstairs to collect back our luggage which we have earlier checked in.We were the last to leave the boarding gate ,got to our hotel room and to my greatest surprise we had a good sleep;we woke up around 5.00 am got prepared, fed the kids went downstairs for breakfast and entered the hotel shuttle to the airport for our 8.55 am flight. We went through the security check again how i hate all those checking, when we got to the boarding gate the lady there asked me if we have Canadian visa another stupid question how did we get there? I just told her yes and moved on to leave the dirty airport behind me.We had a very smooth flight that lasted for about 52 mins so in all  we are grateful for we know that everything happens for a purpose.
Have you had any bad experience during a trip?

New York Vacation 2

We took the kids out on the New York sightseeing today, this was the first time my twins are visiting New York.It is 1.38am here and am packing up to leave for Canada by 12noon today. Everything is on video which i will edit and post when my vacation is over, our holiday in New York was filled with fun.I will write about my own view of New York when i get to Canada,I will try it is a promise.

Quote from Wikipedia:

New York City, which is the largest city in the United States, is known for its history as a gateway for immigration to the United States and its status as a financial, cultural, transportation, and manufacturing center. It was named after the 17th century Duke of York, James Stuart, future James II and VII of England and Scotland.
New York was inhabited by the Algonquin, Iroquois, and Lenape Native American groups at the time Dutch and French nationals moved into the region in the early 17th century. First claimed by Henry Hudson in 1609, the region came to have Dutch forts in Fort Orange, near the site of the present-day capital of Albany in 1614 and was colonized by the Dutch in 1624, at both Albany and Manhattan; it later fell to British annexation in 1664. About one third of all of the battles of the Revolutionary War took place in New York. New York became an independent state on July 9, 1776 and enacted its constitution in 1777. The state ratified the United States Constitution on July 26, 1788 to become the 11th state. According to the US Department of Commerce, it is also the state of choice for foreign visitors, leading both Florida and California in tourism.

New York Vacation.

As we arrived New York JFK international Airport ;one of the immigrations officer checking our passport and taking our finger prints asked us how come our kids are American citizens? My husband told her that they were born in America. Her next question was how were they born in America? My answer to such question after sitting in an Airplane for 20 hours without much sleep and crying kids to take care of,not minding how long we have to stand in line to get clearance.I met my husband some years ago,we got married off course we did what married and some unmarried couples do which in simple English means we had sex, lovemaking whatever name and i got pregnant which i carried for 9 months.I had them in American hospitals through CS paid my bills and left the hospital then got their passports any other thing you need to know ma’am? Stupid questions.
New York have a lot of activities this week, remember i told you how it was difficult to get a hotel reservation for some days in July? When we got here i learnt it was because of the All Nations Baseball games at the Yankee stadium, all the who is who in baseball world were here.It was the last match to be played in Yankee stadium before the rebuilding of the stadium.I am not a baseball fan and don’t even understand the rules of the game;I was forced to watch the opening ceremony because my husband who thinks that watching all those sports makes him manly.I went to the Apple shop at Prince Street yesterday i couldn’t get the 3G iphone because the damn phone comes with an AT&T 3 years contract and since i won’t be using it here there is no point in buying it.The exciting news is that i bought my MacBook Pro 15″ laptop that set me back on some thousands of dollars. It is worth every penny spent on it,I did a little shopping for clothes too. There is heat wave coming our way this weekend and loads of movies coming to the theatres this summer.I went shopping alone to Macy’s on 34th street Manhattan today and i am hoping to go back tomorrow. Next post will on what i will miss about South Korea.
