What Are the Qualities of a Top Affiliate Program?

Affiliate programs offer merchants the opportunity to employ vast armies of people as their affiliates who only be paid for the results they achieve. On the other hand, the rewards for affiliates are also high. Skilled affiliate marketer can earn many thousands of dollars a month. This win-win situation has led to an explosion in the number of affiliate programs that are available to the would-be marketer. With this proliferation of opportunities has come the question: what qualities should you look for in a top affiliate program that will give you a good chance to make sustainable income?

Below are some tips that will help you to evaluate merchants and their programs to help you to avoid wasting time and money.

1. Does it have high commission rate?

It is very important that you know how much you can expect to earn from a sale. There is no point in spending time and money promoting a product that does not pay well. You could end up spending more on marketing than you are likely to make on sales.

It is probably best to stick with marketing products with a high commission value, unless you have found a niche market where you can sell vast quantities of product, and make substantial commissions on your volume of sales.

2. Does the program have high traffic?

Discover the amount of traffic the merchant’s website is already receiving. Alexa.com could be a useful tool for doing this research. If the website is ranked in the top 100,000, the merchant is getting a good volume of traffic, and there may already be too many affiliates. If it is below 500.000, it is either no good or it could just be a great opportunity to make some good income.

It is always wise to do some more research on the program if their website has a low traffic ranking. You should visit forums to find out if there are any adverse comments about the program. It will be a good idea to buy the product yourself if you can afford to. (more…)

The Value Of Competition

So what is competition? Many people consider it the chance to beat someone else’s brains in. To show that they are better than the other guy. Some companies today do all that they can to crush the competition. They buy them up or force them out. And of course it’s their right to do such things. But really where would we be if we didn’t have some competition?

Look at IBM for example. For decades they were the big guy. Hell they were nicknamed big blue of all things. And they felt they were invincible. Then one day during the 1990’s they found that they weren’t really that invincible. They’d lost their edge and were on the verge of bankruptcy. The little guys that they used to swat like flies had grown up. Companies like Apple Computer, Dell, and many others. IBM was saved but only in the nick of time. Today they are stronger than they have ever been. But now they respect their competition.

Companies like Target and Costco while not as big and mighty as Wal-Mart survive and thrive. They keep Wal-Mart on its toes each and every day. And even though Wal-Mart is great at giving us low prices many of the other things they do aren’t so great. Costco has average employee wages that are twice what Wal-Mart’s are. And Target offers a great selection of merchandise in stores that are usually cleaner and much easier to shop in. Are any of them perfect at what they do no. But because their competition is always intense consumers benefit with better products, better prices, and better service. (more…)

Get Paid To Shop Scams

Having tried the “get paid to take surveys” and finding out that there just was not anyway I was going to make any money with the “get paid to take surveys” scam I decieded to see what I could about the “get paid to shop” and the “mystery shopping” programs. I bought a list of places to apply as a “paid shopper” or “mystery shopper” and found to my dismay that no one on the list needed a “shopper” or had dicountinued the program quite a while ago. When I tried, many times, to contact the person who had sold me the list without any reply to the e-mails or never being able to get a call back after leaving messages on his voice mail I soon found that the contact e-mail address was no longer valid and the contact phone number was out of service”. When I tried contacting my credit card company to try and get my money back I found to my dimay that the trial period of three day and passed and there wasn not any recourse but to kiss the money good-by.

All in all I have found that the “paid to shop” is similar to the paid survey scam. In paid survey scams you are asked to pay a fee in order to access a list of companies that pay you to take surveys. In paid to shop scams, you simply pay for a list of companies that pay you to shop at their own stores and to evaluate the experience. (more…)
