I exprienced Acupunture.
Have you noticed that many people are happier on Fridays as opposed to Mondays? For some it marks; the beginning of the weekend’s frolicking, clubbing, partying. For others it is an end to a hectic week in the office. Fridays are no different from any other day to me; but I am happy because I managed to survive another week without going insane. Did I say insane? Yes! I did, if you have 3 boys less than 5 years you will understand why retaining my sanity is the greatest battle I have to fight every day. Don’t ask how I did it, because I honestly don’t know the whole answer to that.
Today was one of those days that things don’t just go the way you expected or planned it. I took the twins to school before 9.30am because they were going to a reptile museum. On Monday their school introduced a school uniform, see them in uniform here.
Last 2 weeks they were taught sex education, now tell me what 20 months old kids will understand on that topic. On Wednesday after walking them to school I went to the Korean oriental clinic to get a massage and acupuncture.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. Originating in China more than 2,000 years ago, acupuncture began to become better known in the United States in 1971.
The term acupuncture describes a family of procedures involving stimulation of anatomical points on the body by a variety of techniques. The acupuncture technique that has been most studied scientifically involves penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles that are manipulated by the hands or by electrical stimulation. Consists of trained professional puncturing needles into the client’s body at specific points to relieve pain or cure a disease.

The clinic I went to hand manipulated the needles, it is not painful and you are advised to say so if you feel any pain. I used the 1 hour I spent there to relax and sleep for awhile. After the needles were removed, suction cups are fixed for tummy massage or any other part of the body. After that a very hot pad is placed on the skin this is the part that drove me nuts, at this point I will be restless. The pads are boiled in a deep electric boiler, then wrapped in a towel and placed on my tummy.
For the massage see photo

That was my week in a nutshell, oh I almost forgot the taxi driver that took me to the clinic, I gave the directions written in Korean he claimed to know the place as I was settling down to enjoy the ride; not quite a pole the driver was turning to the opposite direction. How do you explain to a Korean that doesn’t a word of English that he was the wrong way? What I did was screamed then used sign language, getting close to the clinic he zoomed past the junction. I got there at last. Thinking about it all now it was a fun filled week because I am still sane. Did you see anything around you today to be grateful for?

yes. i was able to resurrect two short stories that were dead and gave them fresher skins!
great to have your sanity intact. i don’t have my own kids but i sure have neighbours whose kids within that range can send one to a loony bin!
you remain a strong woman. and you’ll never give up.
and thanks for filling us in about the acupuncture thing.
and the taxi driver…sure reminds me of the lagos ‘okada’ riders that claim to know everywhere you want to go in lagos- and God help you if you actually don’t know where you’re going!
it’s been a tough but interesting week for me…oh, i still have to be in the office on saturday. so much for work!
Thanks beibee,i am glad that your short story came back to life, post it so that we can read it.
Did see anything around you today to be grateful for?
An awful lot of things.
I do every day.
Solomons last blog post..Things I’m Grateful For on Friday 23 May
Solomon yes i know i have been reading it on your blog,
that is a good project you got there.
i feel so grateful to be alive today…
with lot of energy and good health.
life’s good!
Being alive and healthy is good enough reason to
be grateful.
you can’t be more correct…
it’s one thing to be alive;
another thing to feel alive…
and be living life!
