We are counting days now.
From counting months to counting weeks we are finally counting down in days to leaving South Korea. This morning after the twins went to school Chinedu and I started packing our books. Why do we always have so many books to pack each time we are relocating? It is even less here since Amazon.com was not able to post books to me in South Korea. I saved some money and some packing space, so it is their lost not mine. I remembered buying “My Life” by Bill Clinton for my husband when I travelled to London in 2004 the year it was first published in U.K. We are in 2008 right now and he hasn’t read it yet, if only you know how many times he called me to remind me of buying this book. This made me think of all the great books by very great authors gathering dust in some people’s home libraries. A friend and a neighbour of mine in Paris told us this story about when they travelled to England; how she and her husband went to buy some classic books you know those types that are bounded in leathers. The salesman asked them if the books that they wanted were for reading; they wondered what else one does with a book. The salesman then told them that some people buy books just to decorate their home libraries while others buy for reading. He told them that it will determine the quality of the print and leather to be used. Next time you go to some body’s house and see those leather bounded book collections; do your self a favour and check if they were for reading or for decoration. I believe that the 3 things that can change one’s life are the books you read, the people you meet and the places you have been. I noticed that very successful people have huge libraries with lots of books. Do they acquire these books before or after they became successful? I am going back to my book packing which I left off to write this post. Please leave your answer in the comment box.
